Abstract

This article examines the psychological mechanisms of correcting traumatic experiences that have had a negative impact on the human psyche, as well as the methods of their harmonization. The relevance of the study is determined by the need to transform painful past experiences into forms that do not hinder an individual’s current life activity, that is, to convert destructive memories into constructive experiences. The article analyzes the effectiveness of methods used in overcoming traumatic experiences, such as EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), art therapy, and cognitive restructuring. In addition, the step-by-step process of corrective influence - from emotional release to the restoration of personal integrity - is scientifically substantiated. The results of the study indicate that the reinterpretation of the client’s subjective experience and the transformation of defense mechanisms into adaptive forms play a central role in the harmonization of traumatic experiences. The article concludes with practical recommendations for psychologists working with trauma regarding the selection of corrective strategies.
