THE ROLE OF ZOONYMIC AND PHYTONYMIC METAPHORS IN THE WORLDVIEW AND MENTALITY OF THE UZBEK AND ENGLISH PEOPLE

Abstract

This thesis analyzes the role of zoonymic and phytonymic metaphors in the worldview and mentality of the English and Uzbek peoples based on a comparative-linguoculturological approach. Proverbs with zoonymic components are found in almost all languages of the world. Animals play an important role in people’s daily lives, and the importance of the components of English and Uzbek zoonyms in reflecting the national, cultural and spiritual characteristics of both nations and peoples is discussed.
